AFSA Local 17 along with other New Orleans public school employees win the right to file a class action lawsuit, rules Judge Julien, Louisiana Court of Appeals, Fourth Circuit. The Plaintiff’s Lead Counsel, Willie M. Zanders releases a press statement, praising Judge Julien's ruling to continue the case as a class action. On the evening of October 14th, AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka appeared on MSNBC's The Rachel Maddow Show to articulate the importance of a reformed health care system for all Americans and to reiterate labor's support for a public option.
